Policy briefs have been written on several aspects of CDC introducing civic-driven change (CDC). Different issues are discussed such as its major concepts, terms and arguments, basic principles, preconditions and areas of disagreement.Ensayos
The central dynamic of the CDC process is an international, multi-disciplinary group of scholars and practitioners who provide their reflections and analysis of what a civic-driven narrative of change in society would look like. This core group of ten prominent thinkers brings a powerful array of experiences and perspectives to address three critical questions: 1. What past and present drivers co-determine civic configurations within and between societies across the world? 2. How, in intra-ac...Proyectos

Pluralism in Hivos' view is accepting diversity and engaging with the other. Pluralism is more than tolerance, it is the active seeking of understanding across lines of difference. Pluralism is not relativism, it does not require leaving identities behind. Yet it requires accepting the rights of others, the right to design one's own life, the right to be different and the right to express one's identity. Promoting Pluralism therefore means opening spaces for dialogue and human equality. It do...Temas

Citizens are agents of change and development Equitable and sustainable development depends on open and vibrant democracies. Citizens are the central actors in public and political arenas. Their ability to hold governments to account and to participate fully in democratic processes is contingent upon the opportunities to freely assemble, associate and express opinions– including the right to seek, receive and impart information. But citizens agency is not only the purpose – or the ends – of d...Acerca
Youth are often seen as potential agents of change for reshaping their own societies. Considering their size in terms of numbers in developing countries unleashing the potential of even a part of this group promises to substantially impact societies. Youth are more naturally equipped with the skills to make use of the potential of ICT and actually are seen as the driver of this transformation.Antecedentes
Three-quarters of the world’s 1.2 billion poor people live in rural areas. Many are small-scale producers who depend on agriculture and natural resources for their livelihoods. International markets have been seen as a way out of poverty and food insecurity for small-scale producers. These markets comprise traditional food and fibre commodities, but also new markets for quality products, biodiversity conservation and mitigation of climate change.Contrapartes

The general methodology in the Promoting Pluralism Knowledge Programme is grounded in a concept of critical co-operative inquiry. This method is based on a participative worldview that considers human beings as co-creating their reality through participation: through their experience, their imagination and intuition, their thinking and their action. This participatory worldview is at the heart of our inquiry methodologies that emphasize participation as core strategy and demands a (self)-refl...Antecedentes y Objetivos
The Knowledge Programme on Promoting Pluralism has been initiated after several years of Hivos’ partners voicing concern about various forms of fundamentalism inhibiting their work. They were experiencing decreasing space to raise and discuss sensitive issues, to claim rights for women or minorities. The restrictions could be based on fundamentalist belief systems, social structures, political ideas or other sets of ideas expressed by groups in society. Various forms of fundamentalism and plu...Boletin
