The Promoting Pluralism Knowledge Programme works in three countries: India, Indonesia and Uganda. The programme departs from the daily realities of Hivos' partner organisations and other civil society actors. It takes their experiences, questions and dilemma's related to pluralism as the starting point in defining the direction of the search for knowledge.
India
India is a deeply multicultural society. At the same time, religious, ethnic and caste differences have been the background for multiple forms of intolerance including sporadic and organised forms of violence.
