Research Seminar on Knowledges and Social Movements

By our alumna-intern Tania Marlene Durán Eyre

Join us for a short but lively hour of discussion on 'social movements and collective knowledge for political action and social transformation'.

Date: Thursday 1 July

Time: 12:00-13:00

Place: Room 2.01 at ISS

The seminar will consist of a short presentation by former MA student Tania Marlene Durán Eyre from El Salvador (specialization: Politics of Alternative Development), who recently graduated from ISS under the supervision of dr. Rosalba Icaza.

Tania was selected as an intern in the Civil Society Building Knowledge Programme in 2009. For her research she went to El Salvador to conduct fieldwork with the 'Escuela Mesoamericana de los Moviementos Sociales' (EMMS), which brings together diverse social movements, popular educators, and academics. Her presentation will be geared towards the question what her academic findings on popular education could possibly mean for development practice, from which a discussion with the audience will follow.
