KP small producer agency goes to Asia

After visiting Latin America and Africa, the KP on small producer agency is now going to identify Asian candidates for its global Learning Network (LN). A Round Table with potential LN candidates from India, Indonesia and other countries is organized by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Bangalore on February 4. Moreover, through the regional Hivos office, a separate consultation meeting with Hivos partners is organized in Hyderabad on February 1. One specific objective of this meeting is to assess potential linkages between local initiatives and the global LN. Both meetings will be followed by field visits to rural organizations to share knowledge and insights. We look forward to learn a lot about small producer agency and smallholders’ linkages to markets in the region.

Beyond Economics - East Africa

This dialogue will be an occasion to bring together African networks involved in research and advocacy on African based network looking at the impact of the systemic crises on African development. The launch/dialogue will invite participants to reflect on the performance of Southern and East African economies in relation to the current multiple crises (financial, food, fuel, care). It will ask participants to look at the way the crises are playing out in Africa, specifically at the socio-economic impact on both the macro and micro levels.

New Publication on Theory of Change

The Theory of Change approach applied to social change processes represents a thinking-action alternative to other more rigid planning approaches and logics. When living in complex and conflictive times, we need to count with more flexible instruments that allow us to plan and monitor our actions in uncertain, emergent, and complex contexts from a flexible and non-rigid logic. As known, this thinking-action approach is also applied to institutional coaching processes and to the design of social development and change programs. This Guide synthesizes the core of the methodological contents and steps that are developed in a Theory of Change design workshop.

Workshop Report Moving from Intentions to Action

The Second International Expert Meeting on HIV Prevention for Men who have sex with Men (MSM), Women who have sex with Women (WSW), and Transgenders (TG) brought together 130 activist, community representatives and experts from the areas of policy, research, funding, and implementation of programmes. The format of the Expert Meeting was a mixture of expert presentations on a wide variety of issues concerning sexual minorities, such as decriminalization and destigmatisation; best practices and novel approaches in prevention, or knowledge gaps in social, behavioural and epidemiological research; workshops to discuss and produce recommendations on policy and research issues; and expert panel discussions.
