Every summer students and activists from Indonesia, India, Uganda and the Netherlands discuss issues around tolerance and pluralism in the Pluralism Summer School. The 2009 Summer School has been organised by knowledge programme partner CRCS - Center for Religious and Cross-cultural Studies in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and Kosmopolis, University for Humanist Studies, the Netherlands.

Strange faces and even stranger names. A room full of people that share at least one thing: they are all participants in the International Summer School on Human Development and Human Rights in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. And I am one of them. It is an exiting day, because this is the group we'll be working with for the next 26 days. We were all eager to learn more about one another. And we did! For example: Did you know people in Indonesia think the Dutch don't shower a lot? Once every three days at most... Because of the low temperature in the Netherlands. It was a day full of exploration, curiousity, getting used to eachother and getting used to the climate. We started our day by getting to the CRCS (Center for Religious and Cross-Cultural Studies) building. It's a 10 minute drive from the Wisma MMUGM, where we are all staying. I still have to get used to the traffic here, To Dutch people it seems chaotic and dangerous... And while Yogya has much quieter traffic then Jakarta and B...
